How will you achieve your business goals through the adversity you’re guaranteed to meet, if you don’t know why you’re doing it?

Whatever you might think of Tony Robbins, he expresses the importance of purpose beautifully in this video.  Through a well told little story he demonstrates why “Reasons come first, answers come second”.

This isn’t just hype and motivational jargon — serious business planning methods like the Balanced Scorecard are built around this very concept.

Share your specific, fundamental reasons for being in business in the comments.  How have you built your own RPM?

What’s the difference between a successful business and an unsuccessful one? Derek Redmond understood the importance of perseverance.  He didn’t win, but he finished something that nobody else would have under the circumstances.  He stayed in the race long enough to get to the finish line. It’s the last 1%, after everyone else has given up that […]

If you have a very clear picture of your core business and have long since identified your biggest selling products and your most profitable customers you might be wondering what’s left to […]

In my life I have met a few people who have said the words (and I’m paraphrasing): “I like being average.  I strive for mediocrity and that’s my right.” The thing is, if you think like that you’re just plain WRONG.  Imagine (if you will) a world that had nothing but average people in it. JFK […]
